Dubai Dubai do

Frank Sinatras great contribution to Western philosophical thinking accompanies Fantasy Bobs thoughts for the Scotland squad who are in Dubai preparing for their ICC Championship match against Afghanistan.

The match, being staged at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai Sports City from 2-6 December, is the first-ever five-day game at this level, and is the culmination of the premier two-year first class competition among the leading ICC Associate nations.

So the stakes couldn't be higher for Scotland.  This will be a tough call for the Scotland team - coming out of hibernation to take on a rapidly improving Afghan side who have had the better of recent meetings.   But FB is confident - after all we've done it before

Drummo in form for Carlton
Fantasy Bob's own club Carlton is well represented in the Scottish squad by Drummo, Fraggle, Prestwick and Rosco - not so well known as skipper Gordon Drummond, top order batsmen Fraser Watts and Preston Mommsen and left arm spinner Ross Lyons.

FB missed out on selection despite this season's astounding batting average.  FB struggled to make out CricketScotland's voicemail message, due to background technical interference sounding remarkably like laughter, but thinks he might have discerned the words 'bloody' 'hopeless' 'geriatric' and 'no-hoper' in a somewhat random order.

Diehard Carlton and Saltires' fans can tune into a streamed presentation - it will be available on this link
 www.livestream.com/cricketscotlandtvlive (0530-1230 GMT).

Come on Drummo

Come on Scotland

  2. Bit of a recovery though. McCallum and Smith a century ninth wicket partnership, and a ton for McCallum. Close of play: 212 all out; Afghanistan 18-1.

  3. Thanks guys - FB says a strong bowling performance tomorrow will do the job - Brisbane showed it's possible to recover from a low first innnings total. Come on Scotland.
