Tom Jones apparently has his 80th birthday this weekend. Nothing remarkable in that other than the usual laments about how quickly time has passed since he burst on the scene with It's Not Unusual and all the rest of that stuff
For reasons best known to themselves, the Guardian decided to honour Tom Jones by ranking his top 20 songs. For reasons best known to themselves, What's New Pussycat failed to make the top 20. In its place were a whole lot of songs that Fantasy Bob has never heard of. Not that says very much since he has not followed the career of Mr Jones with any attention. In fact other than Delilah and It's Not Unusual, What's New Pussycat is the only Tom Jones song that he has heard of.
Not that What's New Pussycat is particularly great, but it is memorable in its own cringing way.
