Happy Birthday

2 January is Fantasy Bob's birthday.  You'll just have to imagine how old he is.

Fantasy Bob is Friday's child which means he is loving and giving. So here he gives you these few snippets on signficant events that have happened on his birth date.

1790 - Mozart's Cosi fan tutti premiered in Vienna

1843 - Wagner's The Flying Dutchman premiered in Dresden

Fred Spofforth aka the demon bowler
1879 - Fred Spofforth took the first ever Test hat trick.   He did it at the MCG, the second victim was Francis Alexander MacKinnon, the 35th MacKinnon of MacKinnon, who was facing his first ball in international cricket. MacKinnon got 5 in the second innings before being bowled for the second time by Spofforth who got 13 wickets in the game.  It was MacKinnon's only Test.  Spofforth took 94 wickets at 18.41 in his 18 Tests.

1978 - By scoring 182 in the second innings of the third Test against West Indies in Calcutta Sunil Gavaskar became the first batsman to hit a century in each innnings of a Test match three times.

1992 - Test debut of Shane Warne, v India at Sydney.  Subsequent suggestions are that he became quite good.
